AKFA History

American Kung Fu Academy opened its doors in 1993 under the leadership of Sifu Chuck Perry with assistance from his top student Sean Broussard. Sifu Perry and Sean teach in the traditional Chinese manner with long and arduous training emphasizing stance work and physical conditioning at the beginner level.

Since its humble beginnings, American Kung Fu Academy has helped hundreds of students grow in life as well as in martial arts. Indeed, the following five virtues of a Kung Fu practitioner are emphasized:

1) Humility
2) Patience
3) Kindness
4) Respect
5) Brotherhood

With these virtues, American Kung Fu Academy strives to build character among all of its members, regardless of age.

Throughout the years American Kung Fu Academy has enjoyed the respect of many kwoons (Kung Fu Schools) throughout the nation. Many prominent masters have graced the doorways of AKFA through seminars or simply brotherhood visits.
Today, American Kung Fu Academy is rich with quality instruction and incomparable integrity that will extend into the future.
